Annual Sports Day 2019

The School ground of SSVM World School, Coimbatore, was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolic on 28th September 2019, as the School celebrated its 10th Annual Sports Day, based on the theme Leader in me. All the students were excited about the event. The programme began with a prayer song invoking the blessings of the Lord. The Chief Guest of the day was Mrs. Gita Krishna Raj, a professional classical dancer, a powerful orator, an inspiring actor, a creative writer, an International award-winning director of TV serials, fitness professional with several International Certifications and currently the CEO of Maverick Fitness Studios. The Chief Guest in her keynote address emphasized that Sports and exercise plays a vital role in the life of each and every child. She encouraged everyone to cherish and groom their body with physical exercises and keep fit. She said that the ability of fitness is the presence of vitality. She also applauded all the achievers who had won laurels in many games throughout the year.

The celebrations began with a welcome dance. The students of class XII gave the welcome speech, the felicitation speech, and the annual report. This was followed by the March past parade of all the four houses Cretaceous, Galaphagus, Permian and Triassic and the Oath taking ceremony. The track events and the team events filled the hearts of everyone with the spirit of sportsmanship and unity. There was a colourful display of various drills. The students of the primary level displayed a spectacular bamboo dance drill, the high school students girls the clap dance drill and boys the Zumba dance drill. and a concept mime and dance depicting the seven habits of Highly effective people, by the higher secondary students. They mesmerized the audience with their energetic and colourful performances. The Clap dance drill was judged as the best drill.

The pique of the show was the announcement of the prizes. The prize for the Best tent decoration which was awarded to the Galaphagus house, the well-disciplined award to the Triassic, the Best oath-taking to the Permian and the Best March Past to the Cretaceous house. There was a lot of happiness and cheer when the overall trophy was announced to the Galaphagus house. All the students cheered for their respective houses. 

Finally, the vote of thank was delivered by a student of class XII. On behalf of the SSVM Family, she thanked everyone who had contributed their services for the smooth functioning of the event. The Sports Day ended with the National Anthem.
